Luke 22:51 (NIV) But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.
Are the circumstances in life overwhelming? Is Christianity being stripped from our nation? Does the thought ever cross your mind, “How can this be the will of God? God would not want His people to suffer like this.” We think as Peter, “They are trying to take away our Lord”. So our natural response is to fight. Fight the schools, fight the government, fight the doctors, … I’m not saying there is anything wrong with taking a position based on your convictions and standing your ground. That is our duty. But when you are cutting off someone’s ear, be it literally or figuratively, God is not pleased. He might even say "No more of this, stop it or enough. See Peter thought he was defending Jesus, but it was God’s will that Jesus be taken away for a time. The true believer does not need to fight to hold on to their convictions. They just need to hold on to their convictions for the fight.
